Smoke Testing

The Wastewater Collection Department will periodically test the sewer system for inflow or infiltration.

The most cost effective method is Smoke Testing. A powerful ventilator will introduce non-toxic smoke into the sanitary system.

Smoke testing will:

1. Identify the source of fresh water inflow into the sanitary system,
2. Identify problems on private property,
3. Identify problems inside the home such as bad pipes or dry traps,
4. Identify illegal connections.
